Responding to University’s views about the Broadway Campus future redevelopment, a competition was held to seek a new replacement for the current UTS Building 2. This project was one of the student schemes that are proposed to be the future UTS library in 2020.
At the beginning of spring semester 2008, the UTS Architecture faculty announced the University’s plan to demolish building 2 and replace it with a newly designed building. The third year design students were briefed as an imaginary professional architectural firm that was invited to submit a design scheme for the competition.
The brief for this project was to design a library with other minor programs such as offices for UTS staff, cafes, and a student union centre. Minimum floor space required was six thousand square metres. The dramatic redevelopment of the Broadway campus will enhance the university’s current standing as a world-class architectural school.
